Brian Lara, the world’s greatest Cricketer ever, turns 51 today. Lara, who has scored more than 10,000 runs in both ODIs and Tests, is remembered for his technique and his mastery in playing long innings.

In 1994, Brian Lara scored 375 runs in Tests.

Lara was only 25 years old when he smashed 375 against England at the St. John’s ground in the West Indies. His record was broken by Matthew Hayden about 10 years later. This record was demolished by the Australian opener with 380 runs against Zimbabwe.

Brian Lara’s highest score in ODIs is 169 runs

In 1995, Lara went to play ODI against Sri Lanka in Sharjah. There he hit 169 runs against the Opponent. Lara’s West Indies scored a mammoth 334 in front of Sri Lanka.

Found his record back in just 6 months

Just 6 months after Hayden broke his record, Lara again saw us his huge innings. This time too, he landed on the same ground at St. John’s against the same team England. England bowlers were unable to get Lara out despite their best efforts and he completed his 400 runs with the help of 43 fours and 4 sixes. This record of highest innings in Test cricket is still at his name.

Brian Lara has also hit an unbeaten 500 runs in an innings

Brian Lara’s hunger for runs was such that he did not even name the disappearance. Once he was set on the pitch. On 6 June 1994, in a first class match, Lara played for Warwickshire with an innings of 501 runs during which he was not dismissed until the end. Lara had hit 62 fours and 10 sixes in this innings of 427 balls. Lara broke Pakistan’s Hanif Mohammed’s record of 499 runs with his innings.

Brian Lara is a former legendary cricketer who had played for West Indies cricket and created many records which are still unbroken.
