The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) says it is too early to think about organizing the IPL in the current situation.

The government on Sunday announced to extend the lockdown across the country by 31 May.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had issued guidelines that despite the lockdown, sports complexes and stadiums can be opened across the country without an audience.

However, during this period, the ban on the holding of such tournaments continues,

Which is likely to attract a large crowd. BCCI has welcomed this order of the government

BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said on Monday that,

Even though the government has given permission to open the stadium, air travel has been banned till May 31 across the country.

In the current situation thinking about organizing the 13th season of IPL will be haste.

The BCCI postponed the IPL indefinitely in April following a nationwide lockdown due to the corona virus and a ban on the arrival of foreign passengers.

Asked whether the BCCI is considering organizing the IPL this year?

Dhumal said that,

In the current situation it is too early to think about organizing the tournament.

He said that after removing the ban on foreign travel around the world, looking at the cricket calendar, the window for IPL has to be seen.

Meanwhile, the franchise teams of the IPL are awaiting the BCCI’s decision to organize it.

The Chief Executive Officer of an IPL franchise said that the government’s order would have an impact on the BCCI and would lead to a positive state of affairs of the IPL.

The Indian team also has to tour Sri Lanka in July where they have to play a series of three ODIs and T20 matches.

Dhumal said that Sri Lankan cricket has expressed its desire to host the series by writing a letter to the BCCI in this regard,

But it is not possible to say whether the team will be able to travel to Sri Lanka for the series without the government’s directive.
