However, now the England and Wales Cricket Board has started working on plans to host Pakistan and West Indies.
The entire series with these two teams is planned to be played in just two-three stadiums.
The board is trying to earn revenue from broadcasting rights.
Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar does not seem to agree much with this idea of getting the match done in the empty stadium.
Akhtar has said that it will be the same as marriage without a bride.
He believes that visitors to the stadium are very important for the marketing of cricket.
He hoped that within a year the current conditions would improve and people would be able to go to the stadium once again to watch the match.
Akhtar said, “Playing matches in an empty stadium can be good for cricket boards but I don’t think we should market it.
” Playing cricket in an empty stadium is like marrying without a bride. We need an audience for the game. ‘
