Some of the players of the West Indies Cricket team have returned to practice in small groups.

 

This practice has been started in view of the England tour in July.

 

The players remained out of net practice for a long time due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

 

On Monday, Craig Braithwaite, Shai Hope, Kemar Roach, Shane Dowrich, Shamarh Brooks and Raymon Reifer practiced at Kensington Oval.

 

During this time no one was allowed to enter.

 

According to the West Indies Cricket Board,

 

‘the local government had given approval to return to practice.

For this, strict rules related to security such as social distancing, guidelines set by the Government and Medical Advisory Committee of Cricket WI are being followed.

 

All the doors of the stadium remain closed during Practice session.

 

The players practiced under the supervision of West Indies assistant coach Roddy Estwick and other coaches of the Barbados Cricket Association.

 

Cricket WI CEO Johnny Grave said,

 

ICC released guidelines to resume cricket after coronavirus 

 

“It is very good news that the players have started practicing. For the past few weeks, they were limited to activities related to fitness by staying at home.

 

Regarding the England tour, he said, “Based on the information we have right now, everyone is confident that this tour will happen sometime this summer.”

 

All the International Cricket teams are now practicing hard to return to cricket as soon as possible.

 

Hopefully we will get to see some cricket action in the summer and most awaited IPL in the October – November 2020.
